I’m excited about this year’s Lenten Series, because it falls within our annual reading plan and theme for the year:
GodStory Our Story–A Journey with Jesus through Scripture.
The readings occurring during Lent (the 40 days in preparation for Easter) include the conclusion of Deuteronomy all the way through the start of the prophet Isaiah. So, during Lent we will see the rise and fall of the Israelite kingdom. We will witness the highs and lows of God’s chosen people and see God’s faithfulness through it all. This is GodStory...and it is OurStory.
Each daily scripture reading will feature 2-4 chapters in the main texts and 1 chapter in the Psalms.
Our devotional writers were encouraged to summarize the GodStory of the reading or focus on the GodStory in a particular verse or passage of the daily reading. They each connect the GodStory to OurStory with a personal testimony or practical application.
Sundays are special days, because they are tailored to be read by the entire household, including an activity or two.
We hope that God speaks to you through the readings and devotionals, drawing you closer to Him and inspiring you to trust Him and obey Him in everything. We encourage you to see how “the Bible is a narrative telling of God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ from Genesis through Revelation” (Alan Stringfellow)
