Scripture: Judges 4-5, Psalm 71

Read Judges 4-5.  Sisera had cruelly oppressed the Israelites for 20 years and the Israelites (despite the fact that they had messed up again) call out to God, who loved them, for help.

As you see in Judges, Deborah sends Barak to defeat Sisera.    Sisera showed up with his 900 iron chariots and all of his men which appears to have been quite intimidating to Barak. So intimidating that it appears Barak hesitates and in verse 4:14  we see GodStory when Deborah tells Barak “Go!  This is the day the Lord has given   Sisera into your hands.  Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?

I underlined the parts here that I want to remember every single time I am facing a battle in MyStory. God loves me more than I can fathom while in this human body (even when I have failed Him), and He goes ahead of me into each battle I face.   David knew this. David also messed up…big time.  Yet He knew that God loved him and Psalm 71 is a prayer and a praise to God for His care and faithfulness.  What wonderful peace and hope comes from knowing this as we face battles in this life.

Prayer: Dear Lord and Savior, help me to feel your loving presence going before me as I face the battles of this world.  Let me reflect that peace so that others can see your peace in me.  Amen
