Scripture: 1 Kings 14-16, Psalm 98
As I read today’s reading, my mind was drawn to Psalm 98. I love the imagery of all creation being part of a grand symphony of praise, orchestrated by the divine conductor, God. We too were created to be a part of this symphony, not just through our songs of worship, but through how we live our daily lives. I remember one particular time closing my eyes and praying and my ears were more in tune to the sounds of nature surrounding me and the Holy Spirit reminded me that His gifts of goodness and faithfulness are growing all around us and He gave me the imagery of this poem, which was such a blessing and encouragement to me.
The heavens resound for all to hear, a symphony of love, so loud and clear
We hear God’s love, as the river flows, bringing hope of new life wherever it goes
We hear God’s joy, when birds chirp and sing, joining in worship and praise to the King
We hear God’s peace, in a dove’s soft coo, a gracious reminder that He’ll see us through
We hear God’s patience, as the fresh rain falls, washing our sin and cleansing it all
We hear God’s kindness, when the wind blows the trees, giving provision and mercy to meet all our needs
We hear God’s goodness, in the laughter of others, uniting us all as sisters and brothers
We hear God’s gentleness, as creation sounds, a gracious reminder He is all around
We hear God’s faithfulness, when the thunder’s roar, quenching our thirst wherever it pours
We hear God’s self-control, in our laments and whines, offering us grace time after time
The heavens resound for all to hear, a symphony of love, so loud and clear
Prayer:
May our lives be an expression of gratitude for your wondrous works and may we recognize that we are made in your image, with the purpose of bringing beauty, honor, glory, and praise to you in every facet of our lives. Amen.
